Improved Level of Service

The Clayton County Water Authority's Stormwater utility provides an improved level of service, including preventative maintenance and repairs of all stormwater structures within the right-of-way and all pipes directly connected to the right-of-way.

The CCWA is responsible for inventorying existing stormwater management devices, such as ponds, pipes, streams, culverts, wetlands, ditches and catch basins.

The Authority is also responsible for inspecting and enforcing stormwater controls, stormwater quality monitoring, engineering studies, floodplain management and managing capital improvements.

CCWA Stormwater Maintenance Crews are working throughout the county repairing and replacing stormwater structures (such as catch basins, headwalls and drop inlets), and replacing numerous sections of corroded corrugated metal pipe (CMP) that have resulted in sink holes.

Maintenance Crews are also working on existing stormwater issues that were identified by the county or our local cities prior to May 1, 2007.

Our Vac Truck Crew, which is shown in the photo, works its way through the county cleaning out catch basins to ensure these structures work properly during rainfall and do not cause localized flooding.
